Every senior at Lutheran High School competes a Senior Project before graduating from the school. Each senior plans and conducts an individual service project during the year. Additionally, seniors write a research paper connected to their service project to provide them with more knowledge as they perform their service. Each year in May prior to graduation, seniors make a presentation about their projects to a panel of parents and community people.
The school believes that asking seniors to demonstrate their abilities by designing a service project, is an excellent way for them to use the knowledge and skills they have been learning. Students apply what they have learned in a new situation which helps them to mature and to reach out to the community in service. The projects began in 2004 and every student who has graduated since has completed a project. The projects are a way for graduating seniors to develop real world applications for learning and more importantly, to demonstrate Christ's love in action.
